Garris, Martin K. Eby Construction Company
<
John Garris is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Applied Mechanics. He has worked in project management throughout most of his career, managing over $80 million in work to date. John’s projects have varied, starting with building a road in Colorado, doing environmental work in Maine, building a 250,000 barrel asphalt facility in Chicago, and managing (through the use of IT) an environmental audit of over 4000 facilities – in less than 90 days.
John recently completed an expansion project at WSU’s stadium and is starting work on a $13.6 million school expansion for Emporia’s school district. John is currently an employee of Martin K. Eby Construction Company, headquartered here in Wichita.
The topic of the discussion will be strategic project planing, a key to ensuring that the project goes well. The use of the planning process will be illustrated through the use of the IT side of the audit listed above, and construction projects from the viewpoint of the owner and the builder.
