Old Cowtown Museum - an American Destination for Living History

Old Cowtown Museum
Jan McKay has been Executive Director of Old Cowtown Museum since September 2001. Prior to coming to Wichita, she was Director of Communications and Marketing at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History. A member of that Museum’s management team, she also handled special projects and was involved in Cleveland’s tourism renaissance. She is also a peer reviewer for the Management Assistant Program of the American Association of Museums.
Old Cowtown Museum is an open air, living history museum depicting life in a Kansas cattletown from 1865 to 1880. Old Cowtown Museum is one of the most popular destinations in Kansas. Visitors of all ages come from more than 65 countries and all 50 states.
The Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums, the highest honor a museum can receive. Of the 8,000 museums nationwide, 750 are accredited.
