Southwestern College Professional Studies Programs with Emphasis on Professional Society Offerings and Project Management
Dr. George Heinrich
Technical Advisor to Southwestern College
George Heinrich will give an overview of Southwestern College Professional Studies programs with emphasis on how Southwestern works with professional societies and also the project management aspects of both degrees and professional society certifications. As an example, the ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt and Quality Manager certifications have a significant part of their exam and Body Of Knowledge dedicated to project management. George will discuss what ASQ expects senior managers (VPs or Directors) to know about project management and how project management plays in the Six Sigma world. He will present details about the role project management plays in the Operations Management degree program at Professional Studies.
George is currently the technical advisor to Southwestern College Professional Studies with 2 facilities in Wichita and 1 in Winfield. Professional Studies is an accelerated degree completion institution for primarily working adults. Southwestern has several unique programs including certification exam preparation courses for 4 of the major international professional societies that have Wichita Chapters. Southwestern also offers a wide range of BS degrees plus an MBA. Dr Heinrich's activities include coordination with professional societies, curriculum development, and program coordination/management for courses/certificate programs offered on company locations.
His career includes 26 years service with the USAF as a pilot, operations officer/commander, and research/development technical specialist and manager. After Air Force retirement, he managed the Operations Analysis organization for Boeing Military Aircraft Company from 1980 to 1990. He recently worked as a quality statistical consultant for both Boeing Commercial and Raytheon. He has been a faculty member for a number of universities including VPI, U of Nebraska (Lincoln), George Mason U, WSU, and others. Dr. Heinrich holds certifications from both ASQ and APICS. He received his BS from the US Naval Academy, holds MS degrees from the Air Force Institute of Technology (Nuclear Engineering), and George Washington U (Business Administration), and a Doctorate from Texas A and M (Engineering).
