How to Reduce Project Problems Caused by Disconnected Assumptions
Lee Towe
President
Innovators International, Inc

Many project plans list assumptions as a section in the project plan. Too often, however, the assumptions do not become integrated with the rest of the project planning activities or they become static following the creation of an initial list. Sometimes the list of assumptions includes items that should not remain assumptions, but should be acted upon early in the planning phase.

During this session, you will determine the best way to manage 15 examples of project information related to assumptions. You will also have the opportunity to discuss ways you currently incorporate assumptions into your project planning. Finally, you will prioritize methods that you feel will be most beneficial in reducing problems and discover the favorite methods among others in the session.

Lee Towe is President of Innovators International, Inc., a Charter Registered Education Provider with PMI. He spends most of his time facilitating training workshops and providing consulting services in the area of project management. Lee served on the leadership team for PMI's Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge® 3rd Edition and was primary author of the Human Resources area. Lee has managed projects for 25 years and trained others for more than 15 years. His SeminarsWorld presentations have earned high ratings (for example, his presenter rating was 4.9 out of 5 at MegaSeminarsWorld 2004) and his 2001 PMI Congress session score was among the highest that year. He is the author of two books: Why Didn't I Think of That? and Strategic Planning Handbook.
